Semiconductor Quantum Optics Laboratory

Quantum optics is the study of light interacting with matter at the level of single photons. Researchers in the lab, both graduate and undergraduate students, investigate the quantum optical behavior of nanostructured semiconductor systems of reduced dimensionality, such as quantum dots.

If you want to learn more, read about our research.

Current topics under investigation include the coherence of single photons emitted by quantum dots, and coherent control and measurement of electron spin degrees of freedom.

These projects are funded by the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy. Paid research assistant positions are available to qualified graduate students.
